Strength in numbers
Advocating to protect the CPA profession
The problem
Pennsylvania’s economy depends upon the work of certified public accountants. Demand for their services continues to grow, but a whopping 75% of CPAs will retire in the next 15 years; there are too few new professionals to fill the gap.
To stave off a talent shortage, a new state law was needed to modernize and expand access to the CPA journey in Pennsylvania.
The solution
Establish a brand and message to rally CPAs and related stakeholders to urge lawmakers to approve legislation providing more accessible and cost-effective pathways to becoming a CPA, opening the profession to a broader range of individuals to replenish the talent pool.
The results
In just 16 session days, the House and Senate unanimously approved SB 719 to address the CPA retirement cliff. Signed as Act 27 of 2025, the bill takes effect immediately, proving that when it comes to CPAs, there truly is strength in numbers.
