With the holiday season in full swing, the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s annual Holiday Giving Program got a Bravo Group boost this month.

Through the program, Bravo employees in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh donated more than $1,400 to fill the wish lists of nine local veterans in need this holiday season. National stats show that across the country, roughly 33,000 veterans are homeless on any given night and up to one in six face food insecurity.

“We weren’t surprised by the generosity of our colleagues, and are very proud they gave to help those who served and sacrificed for our country,” said Liann Migash, project manager, who co-organized Bravo’s involvement. “Many veterans face challenging circumstances, and making a difference during the holiday season is important to us.”

YWCA members can submit a wish list for one needed and one wishful item. The organization matches those lists with community members who are able to assist.

In addition, multiple Bravoians volunteered to sort and wrap the hundreds of donated gifts.

“Bravo has a long tradition of hands-on community service,” said Adam Pope, senior director and co-organizer. “Being able to help the YWCA wrap all of the donations was a meaningful volunteer effort, and it was a fun holiday experience for our volunteers.”
