There’s no better example of making progress in people’s lives than our work with Donate Life PA to drive more people to register as organ donors.
Donate Life PA – a collaborative initiative between the Center for Organ Recovery & Education, Gift of Life Donor Program and the PA Health, Education and Transportation departments – is helping to save lives through creative work that connects people emotionally and moves them to intentional action – registering to be an organ and tissue donor.
DLPA and hundreds of supporters across the state call Pennsylvanians to come together in a unifying moment on PA Donor Day Aug. 1 and together educate and encourage family, friends and neighbors to register as donors. Organizations and individuals from across the Commonwealth are invited to join this effort and help to spread the word by signing up as Donor Day partners here.
Aug. 1 – 8/1 – is significant because just one donor can save 8 lives and enhance 75 more. And the need is great: More than 100,000 patients are on the national transplant waiting list, including 6,500 Pennsylvanians. Every 10 minutes someone in Pennsylvania is told they need a lifesaving transplant. Sadly, 17 people will die each day without receiving a transplant.
Eight lives depend on your one decision. We encourage you to join your fellow Pennsylvanians on Donor Day to spread the word about the importance of donation and take a few seconds to register as an organ donor if you haven’t already.
