PICPA
Creating main-character energy for CPAs
With a majority of accountants over age 50 plus fewer college graduates entering the field, there was a serious looming shortage of CPAs. To help PICPA rally support for a bill to help bring more potential accountants to PA, we showed the lighter side of CPAs.
The Challenge
Turning subtraction into multiplication to swell the ranks of CPAs.
Pennsylvania’s number of practicing CPAs had shrunk by 16%, with a whopping 75% due to retire over the next 15 years. With many more people leaving the field than entering it, the numbers were getting scary.
The Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs was sponsoring a bill to make licensure more accessible. But awareness of the crisis was low. Bravo created a brand storytelling campaign— “Strength In Numbers”—that quickly rallied stakeholders to urge lawmakers to approve the legislation.
SB 719 was approved unanimously, successfully paving the way to avoid the looming CPA shortage. The bill took effect immediately, proving that when it comes to accountants, there truly is strength in numbers.
